CONFIDENTIALITY

As a member of NCPS I am bound by their Ethical Framework to protect a client’s confidentiality. Therefore, everything that we discuss is confidential except in certain circumstances which are listed below:

 

  • To assist in the prevention or detection of a serious crime

  • To prevent serious harm to you or others

  • To meet legal requirements, such as disclosing information to prevent acts of terrorism or to comply with court orders

  • For child protection purposes 

  • If I believe you are at risk of suicide or serious self-harm

 

Please also note that, under the professional code of ethics of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society, I am required to undergo regular supervision of my work. I may discuss elements of our sessions with my supervisor, who is also bound by confidentiality, with exceptions.
